Orchid BioSciences surges on U.K. police force pact (ORCH) By Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Orchid BioSciences (ORCH) surged 19 cents, or 15 percent, to $1.46 in pre-open trading after the company announced a three year, "several million" dollar contract with London's Metropolitan Police Service to conduct scene-of-crime forensic DNA testing. The contract is extendable for an additional two years. The Metropolitan Police Service is headquartered at New Scotland Yard, London and is the U.K.'s largest police force.
