Cancellation of shares will definitely drive the price per share, and will lower the float.

But correct me if I am wrong. In order for an organization to cancel shares, they must first buy them back at the current market price. If there are 12 billion shares that are being cancelled, that's about $100mil worth of shares to buy back.

However, if these are outstanding shares, then I'm not sure how that works.
