I believe Shanghai Yunfeng will manufacture Gluco first and I suspect they will do all IPCI generic manufacturing eventually.

manufacturing and packaging is mostly handled by machinery so I don't think there is much in the way of cost savings... but the main expense in generics is the cost of the active ingredient... in the case of Glucophage it would be Metformin... I believe active ingredients in china can be as little as 10 cents on the dollar... I think that is where they can be cost effective for a high volume drug like Glucophage.
