Please forgive my question, but if a GERS shareholder sells some or all of his shares, is the buyer the brokerage firm itself?

The information I've seen on this board in the past couple of days makes it look like individual investors would have a hard time making purchases or even placing limit orders for it.

Can Schwab or E-Trade act as the principal in a GERS trade?
