Dearest Ann,

I have no wish to analyze the newsletter, I am so much more entertained trying to analyze the mindset of the faithful.

Under the guise of DD (which stands for Due Dilligence for those who don't know) so many of you do exactly the opposite.

You see DD does NOT mean parroting the company's PRs and newsletters over and over. It means actually reading them and determining if they make sense and are relevant. Due dilligence means examining the documents with a critical eye, not one blinded by faith.

The quote you presented is a perfect example. It was written several years ago when the genomic industry was still trying to formulate a business plan. Companies were racing to stake claims to as much DNA real estate as they could, assuming that they would then have exclusive rights to what they had claimed. Since then as a more mature viewpoint has emerged, the industry has put the entire genome data base in the public domain. That includes all SNPs and all haplotypes. What this means is there are no 'exclusive' maps or libraries. It is all public domain. Every entry in DNA(P)s "most comprehensive and valuable pharmaco-relevant SNP library on the planet" is a minor subset of the HAPMAP project.

If you are not going to keep up with the developments of the industry, if you are going to insist on turning a blind eye to what is going on and keep yourself insulated from the real world, that is your business and I wish you the best. However, don't you think that you are doing a disservice to those investors who read these boards in order to learn something, when under the guise of assisting them you are misleading them with long forgotten ideals?

regards,
