that you do not see what I see, and you really don't understand human nature.
Basing a currency on a shiny, rare, "precious" metal, such as gold, was one of the worst inventions man has ever come up with. If the world went back to that, the world would revert to imperialism, pirates, and frequent wars of conquest.
Gold as a base for currency has a serious fault: it favors those countries which have the stuff in the ground within their borders, and disfavors every other country. Such a system of money does not unify a world -- it splits it apart and destroys worlds. Civilizations become uncivil.
I know exactly what eminent domain means as I'm quite familiar with the U.S Constitution ...
Amendment V:
No person shall be ... blah, blah, blah ... nor be deprived of life,
liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be
taken for public use, without just compensation.
There are absolutely no large public interests or resources anywhere near my property, or located such that access to those public properties require passage through my property. In fact, there is (public) BLM land scattered all around this area, but the BLM is in the process of selling that property to neighboring private property owners (mostly ranchers). If I knew that several years ago, I would have purchased the 250-acres that is on the other side of my north-west property line. I am seriously considering offering to buy that property from its current owner and giving that current owner a 100-yr renewable lease at an annual cost to them of twice the property's annual (agricultural) tax rate. I would do that merely to keep the land as is -- undeveloped. Besides that, I really like the 100-ft waterfall that's on that property, and I would just like to say I own it.
So, why do I tell you all this? Because it has something to do with public domain. Because I've seriously considered putting my property in the public domain by donating the land, and all my financial assets, to the small nearby town with the stipulation that the property must be maintained in its mostly-wild state and offered for public access and used for camping and hiking.
