I think Cardano is a good long term play. The founder lays out the global vision here:

The problem is that some of those changes sound like 10-30 year time frames and everyone wants to make money NOW.

I think as far as BTCS goes, we will know within the next few months to a year whether they are done for or not. They could get rescued.
