It's likely that with flucide, they could not achieve the high systemic concentrations that would be needed to kill all viruses invivo. So they have moved to local application to skin or eye. This has a high chance of success as high conc can be achieved locally. While they can potentially make 1kg of drug, they have not said is it stable. All the above is informed speculation on my part.
