Dr. Avtar S. Dhillon, M.D., BSc, serves as an Advisor at NewGen Biopharma Corporation. Dr. Dhillon is a Co-Founder of OncoSec Medical Incorporated. He has been an Executive Chairman of Emerald Health Therapeutics, Inc. since April 23, 2015. He has been Chairman of Advisory Board at Nemus Bioscience Inc. since 2018. He is instrumental in successfully turning around struggling companies and influential as an active member in the biotech community. Dr. Dhillon served as the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer of Vitality Biopharma, Inc. (Alternate Name: Stevia First Corporation) from August 17, 2011 to January 31, 2012 and also served as its President since August 17, 2011. He was engaged by MDS Capital Corp. (now Lumira Capital Corp.) as a Consultant since 1998 and subsequently became its Investment Manager and Vice President. He served as an Executive Chairman at Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from October 6, 2009 to August 01, 2011 and Chief Executive Officer and President from 2001 to June 2009. In July 1989, Dr. Dhillon started a medical clinic and subsequently practiced family medicine for over 12 years. Prior to 1998, Dr. Dhillon served as a Consultant to CardiomePharma Corp. and in this capacity, he led a successful turnaround based on three pivotal financings, establishing a clinical development strategy and procuring a new management team. Prior to 2001, Dr. Dhillon served as Consultant to Forbes Meditech. From 1997 to 1998, he served as Consultant at Cardiome Pharma Corp. He has been the Chairman and Director of OncoSec Medical Incorporated since March 10, 2011. He has been the Chairman of the Board at Arch Therapeutics, Inc. since April 2013. He has been the Non Executive Chairman of Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since August 1, 2011. He has been Chairman of the Board of Vitality Biopharma, Inc. since January 31, 2012. He has been a Director of Emerald Health Therapeutics, Inc. since April 23, 2015, Vitality Biopharma, Inc. since August 17, 2011, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since October 2001 and Arch Therapeutics, Inc. since May 2011. He served as a Director of B.C. Advantage (VCC) Funds Ltd. until January 31, 2015. He served as a Director of Almah, Inc. He was a Founding Board Member/served as a Director of Sophiris Bio, Inc. from May 20, 2003 to November 19, 2010. He served as a Director of Auricle Biomedical Corp. since June 1, 2007. Dr. Dhillon was also a Member of the Securities Practice Advisory Committee to the British Columbia Securities Commission from July 1998 to September 2001. Dr. Dhillon holds a Bachelor of Science with honours in Human Physiology and an M.D. from the University of British Columbia.
