I understand their thesis.. but for opiate treatment the gold standard at this point is MAT... I refer to the Wall Street Journal's elegant 11 min video by Jason Bellini that I've posted before: "The way to save opioid addicts";
. Bellini interviewed Dr. Sara Wakeman, Director of Substance Abuse at Mass General Hospital (the teaching hospital of Harvard) on current best practice for treatment for opiate addiction. Mr. Bellini asked: “rehab programs that DON’T OFFER MEDICATION are?” To which Dr. Wakeman replied: "ineffective for opiate use disorders... short term rehab going for 14 to 28-day residential rehab program... the relapse rates after that are almost 100%... so we're really setting people up for failure". Mr. Bellini followed up with: “so you go away for 30 days and it's almost guaranteed that you're gonna relapse?” …Dr. Wakeman replied: "yup after your family may have spent $60,000 on said rehab program and so we really set up people to fail and then we blame them when they don't do well "... for those interested in gaining an understating of the addiction treatment problem in the US right now, and the charlatans who have hung up shingles to "treat" opioid addicts, a look at this video of a recent Congressional hearing will be illuminating:"Examining Concerns of Patient Brokering and Addiction Treatment Fraud" https://energycommerce.house.gov/hearings/examining-concerns-patient-brokering-addiction-treatment-fraud/
