Fertilizers Start to Be Tracked with Data Barcode and DNA Barcode
In order to prevent the use of ammonium nitrate fertilizers in explosive construction, all fertilizers were started to be monitored with the data code and DNA Barcode on 1 January 2018. This practice began in Turkey for the first time in the world, and is expected to increase the cost of fertilizer as it also reflected price increases to farmers.

The DNA Barcode is a biotechnological labeling application that consists of non-visible organic nanoparticles and provides unique identification and traitability by coding data to the applied products.


The fertilizer tracking system was developed entirely by Turkish engineers.
