Cancer Immunotherapy Question

Do the INO cancer immunotherapies used in conjunction with checkpoint inhibitors create a permanent change to a person's immune system, or do they only create short term changes to one's immune system after periodic dosing to eliminate a cancer? I wonder about the immunotherapies attacking healthy tissue long after a cancer has been eliminated. Thanks for any response.
