Arrayit Serum Purification Cards provide a rapid and precise technology for obtaining highly purified human serum from whole human blood. A simple and non-invasive finger stick method is used to collect 5 drops (100 µl) of whole blood, which is deposited onto the left portion of the blood separation matrix in a designated collection area. Capillary action-mediated chromatography separates the whole blood sample into a red blood cell portion and a purified serum component containing 40 µl (2.9 mg) of human serum. Human serum samples are isolated from the blood card using a 6 or 12 mm disc punch. The isolated discs containing cellular antigens, antibodies and peptides are then eluted from the discs for downstream applications such as targeted protein microarrays and whole proteome microarray assays.
