Very lofty goals, this company has. I sure hope Patrick Gray can accomplish half or even a third as much as he says.

"Woodin and Ryan met HashChain CEO and co-founder Patrick Gray less than a year ago through an accountant both companies had sought out for tax assistance. While their companies were both based in Albany and they were working in the same field, they'd never crossed paths before. HashChain has some of its operations in Canada, and Gray is also a co-founder of sCube, based at NYBizLab in Schenectady.

They plan to hire around 30 people by December and another 100 in 2019 as the companies integrate and scale their services, and they are looking for office space in downtown Albany. Currently both companies have about 12 employees combined.

The Capital Region's tech community and talent they can draw on from the colleges and universities in the area make Albany an ideal location, Gray said.

"The larger goal is to become the biggest blockchain technology company in the world," Gray said.
