your statement is still misleading as the trades marked short could have been covered before the close too - in fact most do. the Daily Reg SHO only reports how the trade was initially executed and it does not reconcile if the trade was covered before the close. there’s a reason this fact still isn’t being acknowledged and that reason is as apparent as ever.

Some of the shares sold short and reported by the market makers to FINRA could have been covered by them after the close
