Finally, Joseph Kabila can put his_Chinese_language_skills_to_work_this_week
because there is probably a good chance Chinese Charmian-of-Everything Xi Jinping has a new "very timely" message for Kabila personally. I am paraphrasing here but I think the message is going to be something like this, "Hey there Little Joey, we're starting to lose some big money at Chinese Molybdenum Company which is getting to be a huge nasty problem here in Beijing and so we want you to clean out all the rabble-rousing sheeters/jihadists/terrorists in your big sheethole country or you're going down the toilet sheethole just like we sent Robert Mugabe down the sheethole recently... understandzee?"

You will all recall that in 1998 Joseph Kabila was in Beijing China for intense military training with the People’s Liberation Army and I think it is safe to assume he learned the "Chinese way of doing things" quite well during this tour of duty.

Frederick Kuo from the Lowy Institute has very well outlined Joseph Kabila's new probable marching orders in a quick-read no-punches-pulled editorial this morning which pretty well lays out the upcoming game plan for the DRC. https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/china-s-cobalt-conundrum-congo
... and I would venture to say Chinese Charmian-of-Everything Xi Jinping is now the main reason The Mining Minister for the DRC, Martin Kabwelulu, declined last Wednesday to say whether President Joseph Kabila had actually signed a new mining code (including higher cobalt royalties) into law. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-africa-mining-congo/congo-minister-declines-to-say-whether-new-mining-code-signed-into-law-idUSKBN1FR0IF

I'm betting Kabila didn't sign it... and he never will sign it.

The Doctor
