Just talked with a social media marketing specialist contact and TWTR has quietly started throttling/capping tweet exposure and reach on their platform unless users pay to boost their tweets via Twitter Promote Mode. They're also mixing too much of their internal marketing in with the boosted tweets to dilute the impact. Expect this desperate cash grab to cause controversy and drive MAU's and advertising interest down. You heard it here first.
