If we are very close to being sold, as some here have speculated based on the retention bonus and such, why is the company hiring more employees? Wouldn't the acquiring entity (e.g. Amgen) tell them to freeze any hiring until the deal is inked so that they can determine the strategy (e.g. cash burn) going forward?

It all just doesn't make any sense.
