I was at a grocery store last week that sold all sorts of nuts, candy, granola, trail mixes and similar items by the pound. The place was very similar to Whole Foods.  Pine nuts were $21/lb, pumpkin seed was $4/lb, peanuts, $2/lb and hemp hearts were $27/lb.
So there is no argument to not grow hemp domestically. Until hemp hearts are comparable to at least cashews, it will pay to produce. The arguement here has been about the hemp fiber, which after the seed, the rest is bonus money. There is a lot of benefit to grow, because all parts of the plant can be used and make a profit along with rejuvenating the soil.
