could you imagine a world where everyone played tug-a-war but were all on the same end of the rope? think about that one for a minute.
If stocks couldn't move either direction there wouldn't be a trade at all and know one could win.
You don't need to short but if you want to be a winning trader you do need them IMO
Besides it's fun to watch a short burn when they/we get it wrong
