Alan Savage is listed as owner-broker of the Ruby mine. He lives in Grass Valley not far from the operation. The sales brochure says the mine has been in the family for 60 years.

He wants cash for the mine but I'd bet a dime that he'll take a lease with a good deal of cash up front, no guarantees to the buyer and the buyer assumes all liabilities.

I wrote a book about a television personality who did a story on Downieville. This area was rich in gold. Lots of great old photos of men and operations back in the 1800s, and stories about the gold that's still there, perhaps the real Mother Lode.
