short selling to increase supply of available shares for trading within a constant share price environment is an obvious effort to keep price down..also indicates share demand is up at these prices requiring more shares to maintain current s/p..seems simple to me..8 million + short shares added to volume represents a 20% temp trading dilution..take those away and the demand exceeds supply and price goes up..not complicated.
