Things are progressing in the House and Senate:

Two committees, one in the House and the other in the Senate, voted strongly endorsed bills that would legalize cannabidoil oil, or CBD oil, a substance derived from marijuana that appears to help those afflicted with uncontrollable epilepsy.

The House panel voted 8-1 and the Senate panel voted 7-1 to move the companion bills onto a full vote by both chambers, which should happen in the next several weeks. The legislative session ends June 1.



Intractable seizures affect nearly 150,000 Texans. CBD oil, which does not induce euphoria, is already legal in more than a dozen states.
