Political theatrics.........

It is just my opinion but, this shutdown is nothing but political theatrics. I say that for 2 reasons. The first of which is that Trump has already extended the timeline for DACA renewal from Oct. 2017 to March 5, 2018, for those DACA recipients that are already here and also stated that if it takes more time to legislate a DACA agreement, he would extend that date again.

Report: Trump willing to extend March 5 DACA deadline if Congress doesn't act

If Congress doesn't take action to fix former President Obama's program that has deferred deportations for people who came to the U.S. illegally as children, the Trump administration plans to extend a March 5 deadline on their protections, according to The Washington Post.

President Trump said last month that he was willing to "give it some more time," according to Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, the report said.

"The president's comment to me was that, 'We put a six-month deadline out there. Let's work it out. If we can't get it worked out in six months, we'll give it some more time, but we've got to get this worked out legislatively,'?" Lankford told the Post outside a Tulsa town hall Thursday.

And the second reason that this is all BS is, a Federal Court has ruled against Trump's order to stop further applications until congress decides whether or not the policy should continue as legislative law, concerning future immigrants brought here by their parents.

U.S. judge blocks Trump move to end DACA program for immigrants

SAN FRANCISCO/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. judge in San Francisco temporarily barred President Donald Trump’s administration on Tuesday from ending a program shielding young people brought to the United States illegally by their parents from deportation.

So, there are 2 separate issues here. DACA recipients that already exist, of which the deadline is March 5 and promised to be extended, if a legislated agreement can not be reached by then.

And the continuation of the program for future minors who are brought here illegally by their parents in the future, which must also be legislated or not by law and not mandated by a Presidential order.

Again, just my opinion, but, it seems to me that there is no DACA crisis worthy of shutting down the government at this time. The continuing resolution was proposed thru Feb. 16, well before the March 5 deadline, which again was promised to be extended, if legislation could not be agreed upon.

This whole thing is just some foolish political game that has highlighted the dysfunction of our government and highlights what fools we have as representatives.
