Canada's Nationwide Damper On Cannabis Stocks Caused By Upcoming Senate Hearings

Summary: Uncertainty is bad news for investors. The upcoming Canadian Senate hearings have caused a slowdown of the rapid growth in share prices. After the hearings investment will increase exponentially and the "marijuana gold rush" will begin the explosive implementation phase. The pullback is a great buy opportunity.

There is a reason for the excessive "red ink" days of the HMMJ ETF and the broad portfolio of Cannabis stocks HMMJ represents: Ugly Canadian Politics.

Cannabis use and Cannabis legalization are wildly popular in Canada. Justin Trudeau swept into the Prime Minister's office and residence (where he grew up) in 2015 largely on his promises to legalalize recreational cannabis and avoid an austerity-budget. Canadians liked his message.

Trudeau's Liberal Party government has now voted to approve cannabis legalization for adults. Done deal right? Well NO - this is Canada.

Now, Canada's (unelected) Senate must put it's rubber stamp on the bill. Televised Senate hearings commence in February. It will be an epic media circus, and the last stand for the cannabis prohibitionist movement.

Trudeau himself will likely be questioned. That is the good part. Trudeau has emerged as Canada's greatest ever legalization advocate. His iron-will to take this multi-billion dollar industry away from organized crime and bring it out of the underground economy is unstoppable. Legalization will proceed.
