Am I missing something on this? It's just a variation of B3. And can't the body just convert regular niacin into it?

Doing some homework, it appears B3 isn't a thing but a category. And the things in the category are related by a common molecule. So nicotinic acid has a hydroxyl group, nicotinamide replaces it with an amide and nicotinamide riboside adds a riboside to it. And then nicotinamide riboside is a precursor to NAD+.

So I can see how they are related, but can have different affects. And since there is nothing special about making nicontinamide riboside, as long as it's actually got it in there, you can buy it by price.

And here's more info on NAD+ which is what you are trying to increase, http://science.sciencemag.org/content/350/6265/1208.full
