I was wondering about the leveraged buyout offer for Yasheng that came up a year or two ago, via international press release. I believe the buyout offer was for $11-12 or so per share, which seems a fair valuation, but was structured as a ten-year payout in a cryptocurrency.

I did some DD on the LLC making that buyout offer but couldn't find much on them. At the time, the proposed buyout deal seemed rather convoluted, but as time goes by, and as these new cryptocurrencies gain interest and legitimacy -- we're in a totally new world here, folks -- maybe that's the way the Yasheng story will end up playing out.

I would hope that any such LBO for Yasheng would be made by offering a "buy it now" (lower) price, and a longer-term, structured (higher) price. Either way, I think we would make out well.

Did anyone else try to do some DD on that LLC that had been specially-formed to offer a buyout of Yasheng? If so, did you learn anything?

I used to create LPs, LLPs, LLCs, and "ordinary" corporations back when I began my career as a Delaware corporate lawyer, and typically whenever you get to that stage, you are dealing with something more on the concrete side. (That particular buyout offer seems to have expired, however, for whatever it may have been worth -- at least as far as I know.)
