Perhaps there appears to be nothing on the table because no one is interested in listening.

No harm if the government shuts down for awhile. It usually serves to bring both sides to the table because no one can tell the difference when the government shuts down and we don't want to draw attention to that reality. It's good to be in Congress and to be a Civil Servant. We both eat from the same delicious trough. If we could only get bigger government, more could enjoy the charity.
