I say that because spreads have tightened over the last 20 years. I can still remember the days trading larger cap Nasdaq's with fractions as opposed to today's decimals. So, one could trade on an ECN (and we did) with the bid at 1/4 and the ask at 3/4. The best daytrader's would trade on the Island ECN and made a small fortune taking advantage of the .50 spread. OTCBB's would sometimes have .75 spreads or more. Then you had people like Lebed, Belfort and the like.
I don't see this as much now.
