Possibilities include (in order of likelihood IMHO): 1) He received an offer he could not refuse 2) There was some disagreement in upper management about how certain aspects of the company should be handled involving PR 3) He was forced out. 4) Some other personal issue requiring him to need to live to wherever the new job was.

That said, over the years, the first 3 or 4 times I e-mailed him, I received a reply within about 48 hours. The last 3 times I tried, I did not receive a reply at all. It is not like I bombarded him. The last 3 times was probably over about a 5 month time period. The first two of those were the same question, though I now forget what that exact question was.
