Aligning a 1040 tax form in a typewriter-- a manual one at that-- wasn't trivial. Perhaps he had a secretary in his dad's stock brokerage firm type it.

I'm trying to remember how I did my own taxes years ago. Guess I scribbled down the numbers and then copied them with a ballpoint pen in a slightly tidier final draft.

Buffett was probably happy to be able to send $7 to help the war effort.
