I think this was discussed a bit previously, but I was once heavily invested in the predecessor of Real Industry, Inc. I rode the wave of Fremont General through the BK and even went to some of the BK proceedings and filed a couple of motions. I made quite a bit of $ there, but could tell that the business was never going anywhere, so I exited. Best move I ever made.
Anyway, Real Industry has a lot of NOL's -- they were Fremont General's. And people have been trying to arm wrestle over them since 2007. And yet, here we are in 2017, no one has been able to use them (including those folks who work with Sam Zell, who I believe all have left the scene). And if I'm reading correctly, Real Industry is back in Chapter 11 now? Haha.
If I had more time, I'd dig in there and see what I think. But I just don't have that kind of time to do that nowadays. enterprising investor probably has a decent view of the situation though. He swings through this board from time to time.
