If there is no private placement, then the use of preferred shares must be it.

Any predictions on impact to stock price from that? I feel like it would be very positive, but that's just me.

Any such investor will only get their money back from top-line revenue, not speculative share price appreciation - so they would have a strong incentive to be sure that revenues are in the pipeline.
