LOL The plant is called Cannabis, two main cannabis's are Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica. Hemp is Cannabis Sativa with very little THC. Marijuana is a slang name given to cannabis a long time ago back in the 1920-30's to scare the population. There is a third Cannabis Ruderalis but that is starting to get into the weeds :).
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plant in the family Cannabaceae. The number of species within the genus is disputed. Three species may be recognized: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis; C. ruderalis may be included within C. sativa; or all three may be treated as subspecies of a single species, C. sativa. The genus is indigenous to central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
I also like the way people make a distinction between MMJ and Cannabis. Actually there is no difference. Any master grower can grow good pot that does not make it medical. MMJ is just a term to make it more acceptable to the masses. BTW I will be growing some auto-flower cannabis called Early Miss this year. It is 60% Indica 30% Sativa 10% Ruderalis and grows from seed to done in 7 weeks. Simply Amazing
