There is no evidence that any work Dr. Armacanqui did for WOGI was other than, as you say, "pro bono," if by that, you mean working without pay.
However, pro bono generally means volunteering one's services for the public good, as in legal work or professional services performed for charities. It does not mean working for free for a business.
If Dr. Armacanqui were to continue to work for WOGI without getting paid, I daresay his services are worth exactly what he's asking for them.
However, I think the good doctor has moved on.
If I am killed by a gun today.
do not light a candle for me.
Do not hold a memorial for me.
Do not say a prayer for me.
Change the f'ing gun laws instead.
