ORC and most mREITs are far too risky for me. While I love dividends as just about everyone does, I'm convinced the best way to get yield is to buy and hold quality blue chips and wait for the dividend increases.

In addition to some ETFs and index funds, I own about 15 individual stocks currently. I think every one of them has raised its payout in the past two or three years. Stocks like Rockwell Automation, MMM, Travelers Insurance, Cintas and Boeing. I virtually never sell good stocks.

Comcast isn't my favorite holding, but it seems to boost its payout every two years, and it split 2:1 a few months ago. A remarkable payer!

I'm a lawyer by education. Been investing since I was age-19 decades ago. I hate gimmicky ultra high yield investments, especially those that target retirees.
