OT: this is the problem with coal and other dying industries...unfortunately much of the workforce in these industries don't know any other skills because their families have worked in them for generations. Instead of promising to save them from the inevitable, a good leader should be creating programs to teach them new skills in fields that are growing and/or understaffed.

This mentality is the only way we will move forward. Unfortunately we've moved backwards in many of these aspects with the policies that are being enacted or removed. Also unfortunate, are the folks that don't want to learn new skills or expect someone to "fix" the problems for them. I guess those are the people who will be left behind as more and more of our work is done by technology and require new skills to become relevant in the workforce.
