This post response may be out of sequence. Not sure. But, yes, I never have to worry about the wash rule in an IRA. Regarding your scencario of selling and buying at the lower PPS... not a problem. I can buy or sell whenever I want irregardless of the month or day. With an IRA is all about buy low sell high.

The only real restriction is I have to wait 3 trading days for the funds from a sale to be available for a buy. But the solution to that is very, very easy. Simply carry a sizable cash balance at all times so there is 'cleared' cash to buy when needed. It's that simple.

The problem I used to run into was when I was fully invested using The Machine from Larry Connors. When one is 100% invested in an IRA and you sell some shares, you have to wait those 3 days before those funds are available for buying. Just keep a good cash balance (keep some powder dry) and this is never an issue.
