For me, my response is so simple that you will not believe it.

I NEVER have to factor in the IRS 'wash' sales rules in my trades.... because (drum roll) I trade out of an IRA.

I also never have to report my P&F every year. I love it.

And they've recently reduced the HOLD wait period (for re-investment) from (I think) 5 trading days to 3 trading days.

So I"m a happy camper because I live a simple life with respect to these complexities.

Counter-argument.... I often hear that ... I cannot SHORT. I don't need to short. I can:

1) buy -1x, -2x or -3x ETFs (at the sector level)
2) buy "Option Puts".

I can't do margin but that is ok because that is risky business anyhow.

So I feel that I have the best of all worlds trading out of an IRA.
