I’m fairly new to stocks when it comes to companies being bought out. If GoPro sells the company, how does that affect current shareholders? Do the current shares get transitioned to the buying company?

I have small position, less than $1k. Just wondering if I should ride this out with hopes of it being bought out or cut my losses.
