Yes. Not uncommon at all. Patents do not always belong to the company using them for a multitude of reasons.

What Viva is using can still be a patented or patent pending product they are licenced to use.

Really that information is readily available if you have the patent information and want to do a little DD on who holds it. Bet you find it is held separate of the public company so in the event of issues the technology is secure.

Just throwing it out there as it is common practice but frankly I didn't even bother researching it with OTTV because of no relevance.

If they were a tech or biotech company could see the effort. But for Viva whatever they could patent for this sector would be easily circumvented by one of several means.
