NKWEF~~The Garatau Mine is close to the R37 main road from Lydenburg to Polokwane next to Anglo American Platinum’s Modikwa Mine and Impala Platinum’s Marula Mine. The road connecting the project area with the R37 was recently upgraded and tarred.

The Garatau Mine was granted a 20 year Water Use Licence effective 12 October 2017.

The regional electricity grid runs to Steelpoort and to the surrounding mines. Electrical power (80MVA) to support mining operation will be available from the national power utility (Eskom). Eskom was granted the Environmental Authorisation by Department of Environmental Affairs for the Garatau Grid Power Project in May 2016. Eskom is currently busy with the lands and rights, and surveying processes. Subsequently, a budget quote will then be issued to the Company after Eskom’s own internal approval processes. The budget quote from Eskom is expected during the course of 2017. Grid power from ESKOM will not affect the start-up of the Garatau Project. Construction power will be supplied by diesel generators with a capacity of 5MVA which would be more than sufficient for decline development and associated activities.

A process in underway with Lepelle Northern Water Board, a state-owned Water Service Provider, to secure industrial and portable water supply to the project for the benefit of the mine and host communities.
