"Tell me, oh savvy soothsayer of cyberspace...what was the purpose of SDMI? Wasn't it's intention to establish standards for IT distribution of copyrighted intellectual property? Wasn't the intention to sift through the myriad of DRM's and codecs to be able to better regulate and control distribution?

Here...let me do your DD for you...

" target="_new">http://www.sdmi.org/"

And what was the result of those intentions?? Zilch, NADA, nothing?? And apparently EDIG management was not in tune witht hte whole scene enough to see the failure coming. Perhaps they were too busy eating smoked tuna??

"And you have the gall to write that edig has been 180* in opposition to this nascent market? Hmmmm...you sound a little bitter today. Maybe you need to titrate your dosage more carefully."

when you have to sell your products for less then they cost you to produce them, and the products are still a dismal failure, you are missing the market somewhere.

"It takes money, and lots of it, to do some of the things that bigger hardware companies can do easily. I find it, frankly, amazing that edig has been able to enter these markets at all, considering the pitiful income stream...but enter it they did...and with some fairly significant offerings as well. Whether you find it interesting or useful, or not, the voice recognition software that the MXP100 and O1000 offers is state of the art, IMO. And just because the general consuming market hasn't embraced this feature wholeheartedly, at this time, doesn't mean that it won't be a winner at some point down the road."

what eaxactly is amazing about taking shareholders money, paying someone else to build something for you, then selling it for less then your cost? That amazes you?? How bewildered are you when you see a company that sells their products for a profit?

I am glad you like the voicenav, you and two others on this board are the only ones in the entire world that care about it. Perhaps if EDIG had put efforts into producing something that the "general consuming market" would embrace, they wouldn't have a "pitiful income stream" and an OEM may have picked it up. Do you think the major OEM's are going to go for something that the "general consuming market" could care less about?? How about EDIG makeing something for todays market, would that be a good idea?

"The other items you mention have yet to develop into the all-encompassing CE devices yet. And you certainly don't need the mOS for simple downloading of MP3 formatted music. You should know this. It's amazing that you don't. For as long as you've been here, for you not to recognize the delays in furthering the technology and the content delivery package that has been semingly forever discussed, only to be delayed time and again...is quite telling of your lack of DD.'[i/]

How many BILLION cell phones have sold since yoiu first made that excuse 3 years ago?? How many PDA's, gaming systems, and set top boxes? How many HUndreds of millions of digital cameras have been sold while EDIG has waited for the to "develop into the all-encompassing CE devices"?? Keep waiting!!! Another great read of where the market is.

"A complete and utter BOMB, you write? LOL! Nope...don't agree. I have held and used the O1000, and it's quite a work. Time will tell whether they can continue to offer CE devices in the face of meager revenues...but I have the feeling that this negative cash flow is being turned around. Pump fresh cash into this engineering house, and let's see what the edig engineers can come up with next..."

Too bad most consumers and all the OEM's don't share your opinion. Actually, too bad virtually NONE of them agree. But you have also been way smater than most, just think that if everyone was as smart as you, EDIG would be on their way!!!

PUMP as much cash as you want into it, I'm sure they will take your check!!! Why did they have to leverage Digitalways players again?? Why couldn't they buld their own??
