Export Commission to showchase Nigeria 's trade, investment opportunities in U.S.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Export Commission, Mrs. Gladys Sasore will launch a new campaign tomorrow to promote trade and investment opportunities in Nigeria .

Public Affairs Manager at the Commission, Mr.Ndubueze Okeke said in a statement over the weekend that the campaign followed an invitation from The Whitaker Group in the US , which recently observed that Nigeria has enacted world-acclaimed reforms and has ushered in a new day for Africa .

Okeke announced that Sasore would introduce "A New Look at the New Nigeria" to the US business community, policy makers, media opinion leaders and other supporters at a luncheon in Washington firm, which developed the promotional campaign for NEPC.

The Nigerian trade and investment delegation led by Mrs.Sasore is also expected to participate in a host of meetings with US private sector leaders and government officials. The group will equally tour facilities of potentials private sector partners in the US .

President and CEO of The Whitaker Group, Mrs. Rosa Whitaker said in a statement that, "With a population of nearly 140 millions, Nigeria is the largest domestic market on the African continent. In April, the Obasanjo government eliminated $30 billion in foreign debt and instituted fiscally sound reforms. Nigeria has privatized five industries and brought in billions in foreign investments. The country's gross domestic product has been on a steady rise since 2001 and increased by a record six per cent last year. With strict, targeted reforms, the government has not only stemmed but also reversed a pattern of corruption that has marred Nigeria 's image for decades.
