- I used Coinbase to buy Bitcoin. It was the easy to open an account and transfer us USD to buy bitcoin with credit card. But fees attached about $4 to buy bitcoin/BTC

- Had to open another account to purchase Ripple/XRP. I used Kraken, takes about 2 days to get "tier 1" verified. The minimum level you will need to deposit digital currency and exchange it. Still waiting for tier 2 & 3.
--Once Tier 1 was verified I transferred my Bitcoin from Coinbase to my Kraken account. I then bought/exchanged that Bitcoin to ripple.

Its a pain, its slow and expensive. Took about an hour for the Bitcoin to show-up in my Kraken account. Also, the fee was $17.29. Also, you will experience many of the "504 internet errors" on the Kraken site apparently the servers can't handle the cyrpto craze. They all appear to be experiencing this.

So my initial $100 funding request -3.84 to buy BTC (Bitcoin) - another 17.29 to transfer to Kraken only to up with 45.68831 Ripple.

I was just experimenting. But definitely not cheap. And I'm sure others may have cheaper ways of obtaining the XRP/Ripple.

I did hear/read coinbase was going to include Ripple on 8 Jan, but far as I know its one of the internet rumors. Probably, one of the reasons "Ripple" is on a rise.

The lure of coinbase is; its easily funded. I think I will have to "wire" any deposits into my kraken account after tier 1, 2 verified.

I started this 2 days ago and just before this posting I brought/exchange for Ripple.

Also, there are minimum order sizes on Kraken, for instance, 30XRP/Ripple is a minimum order size. So check out their trading basics page.
