So it has been one week since VATE and SIPC were selected to enter the 2018 GRAND SALAMI
I'd say we are off to a decent start thus far
During the past week, the MJ sector continued to strengthen and we finally moved from the defrosting stages into premania late last week
We are now only four trading days away from witnessing and experiencing, by far, the biggest event-based catalyst to hit the MJ sector since the the last significant event-based catalyst triggered a mania in the Fall of 2016, now over 15 months ago
1/1/18 will mark an historic day for the state of California
The most populated state in the union, which became the very first state to legalize medical marijuana in 1996, will finally launch sales of recreational marijuana in dispensaries, whose supplies are constrained by fire-induced losses and the splotchy, slow rollout of license approvals for distributors, all of which could very well cause long lines at dispensaries
The historic, economic and sociocultural aspects of recreational cannabis legalization in California, as well as its impact on the viewpoints of Californians and Americans at large -- on cannabis, and its ever-increasingly hypocritical status as a Schedule I substance -- are all low-hanging fruit for national media coverage.
In addition, the following bullish events transpired last week:
The Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment was automatically extended one month with the budget, so that removes any fear of MMJ states not being protected from any type of federal interference for now
The crytpocurrency bubble showed some signs of cracking, which should redirect money flow into the MJ sector, which is now being increasingly viewed as the more favorable sector, as measured by risk/reward ratio
Sessions rescinded 25 memos but left the Cole Memo in place, which leads me to believe that the DOJ's current stance of non-interference with marijuana-legal states will likely continue
Decreased fear + Increased money flow + Very significant upcoming 1/1/18 direct catalyst with strong indirect catalyst effects (media coverage, discussion and debate)
That's generally a bullish combination
