Oh you mean unlike the Republicans who have betrayed their own philosophy, whose "plan" to make up for tax breaks for corporations AND foreign investors which will COST AMERICANS $1.5B/YEAR MIN. is to slash Social Security/Medicare as well as MediCaid -- which is no longer just for the "poor" or those living on "handouts" but for the MAJORITY of seniors if they live live enough, since MediCare doesn't pay for home elder care which is so expensive (over 200-250K/ year in most states) but REQUIRED by strict Social Services laws, so they go through their savings, home equity, EVERYTHING not counting enormous legal fees, and in less than 5 years or often 1-2 years, end up impoverished in a nursing home paid by MediCaid as a last resort.
-- I know this from experience in both CT and CA as do many and it's nation-wide, just worst in high-tax states like CT and NJ/NY/CA/IL where people won't be able to deduct their states taxes either, plunging the middle class further and faster into poverty...

Reducing mortgage deductions means in CA that fewer people will buy expensive homes or move and that directly cuts prop taxes which pays for the local schools and many social services paid by LOCAL taxes -- many "ripple effects" that the "scr*W the libs" attitude of this tax law doesn't take into account --
