Ameritrade did that to me two days ago on PT@P. Called them and broker read DTC about issues with shares clearing.

I told him "Since Etrade and others are allowing buying, I am going to assume some Ameritrade accounts have FTDs and DTC isn't letting you make a market?

he simply replied 'Yes sir, Ameritrade cannot buy the stock at this time. We can only close a position.'

Sounds like DTC is starting to clamp down on FTDs. Hopefully...finally
