I don’t think any news is coming by year end. I think today was just an outlier of a day. I’ve seen this happen (11/22 most recently) only to fall right back down to normal levels the following day and continue for at least 30 days. You’ll probably see this thing drop tomorrow and next week unless a PR is released.
