It's all the same math IMO. IF there were a buyout of say $1B -

The overall profit is the same regardless to a stock split.

Example:

100M shares @ $10 per share = $1B

300M shares (3-for-1 Stock Split) @ 3.3333 per share = $1B

The buyout agreement would pre-determine the share price IMO.

Put another way:

You decided on a pizza.

You order a $10 Pizza with Lox & Cream Cheese (what a deal!).

You can order it cut into 4 equal slices.

or

You can order it cut into 12 equal slices.

it's still

same size - same price - same pizza - same great deal!
